Building Surveyors
The primary role of the building surveyor is to assess and report on the structural integrity and associated safety aspects of a building during construction. Essentially building surveyors are responsible for making sure that construction projects result in buildings that are safe, energy efficient and liveable. They also provide advice on building legislation which could affect the design of buildings.

Building surveyors also carry out inspections of established buildings to determine their existing condition and level of compliance with safety standards. When buying a property the client needs to be aware of the following:
  • The detailed condition of the property
  • What repairs are required and the possible methods and costs of these repairs
  • What improvements and or extensions possibilities are there and the corresponding costs involved
  • Whether the asking price is reasonable taking into account the above
